Russelling Reviews favourite and least favourite films of 2015 + Some great films coming out in 2016 (Reworked and up-to-date)


Over coffee with a good friend, the discussion eventually moved toward film. 

He wanted to know what the best films have been in 2015. As with every year, there are highs and lows. It is fun to do a retrospective of the films reviewed in 2015. 

So, what are the best and worst films  Russelling Reviews this year? Check out the list at the bottom, too. I will include a few that are coming out in early 2016

Here we go! The rankings were based on their overall star rating. 

The Best... so far... of 2015

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens - It was epic and easily took out the title for the year
2. The Martian - Ridley Scott gets his mojo back
3. Mad Max: Fury Road - Insanely good
4. Inside Out - The best animated of the year 
5. Bridge of Spies - A throwback that is worth the journey
6. Sicario - Intense and confronting
7. Ant-man - Finally a fun superhero film
8. Avengers : The Age of Ultron - Good, but not great, but still one of the top films
9. The Water Diviner - The front runner for Australian films
10. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - A fun espionage film from Guy Ritchie

Best Art House films 
What is an Art House film? 

1. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl - One of the best overall films of the year
2. Mr. Holmes - A fascinating view of an ageing Sherlock Holmes
3. Far from the Madding Crowd - Beautifully filmed classic novel
4. Foxcatcher - Some of Steve Carrell and Channing Tatum's best performances

Best films that would lead to a conversation about God, Jesus or the Bible
